Another weekend away

Another day, another weekend away with my little family … lovely jubbly. We went camping alongside my mum, dad, sister and her friends to celebrate my mom’s birthday. We did have some rain but the sun came out for our BBQ and that’s all that really matters 😊.

I love taking Wilf away, the older he gets, the easier it is … I can let him run about and watch him making friends (too cute). But there is something to be said for being home in our normal routine … There’s something about the sound of the washing machine and dishwasher running that makes me feel peaceful. Knowing things are getting done. Wilfred is currently napping upstairs … which he didn’t do all weekend – too much excitement! Back to normal. And relax.

Where does the time go?

It’s 5am on Thursday … I’ve just fed Rupert (first time he’s woken since going down at 8:30) and come back to bed … Listening to all 3 of the ‘boys’ (I include Richard in this), snoring away.

I’ve had a good, solid chunk of sleep so will probably get up soon and have a head start on the housework … The more I can get done whilst everyone is snoozing, the less there is to do when I have a toddler at me feet, a baby on my hip and the rest of life going on simultaneously.

I just find the days slipping by recently. Hence the slightly late blog post. Oops. It was my Birthday on Saturday 18th June, 29 years old. My LAST ‘twenties’ Birthday. Where the hell did that time go. From 25 to here has just flown, in that space of time, I left work, got married, moved house, carried and delivered two babies, made some truly wonderful mummy friends and adjusted to a (temporary) life of being a full time mummy and housewife. I adore every moment of being a stay at home mum. It’s a million times more rewarding than any job I’ve had previously, but happy days do fly by and it’s all going a little too quickly for me!

We’re off camping with my family tomorrow (celebrating my Mom’s Birthday). So today is a day of packing and deep cleaning the house before we go away. I discovered some ants in the hallway and I certainly don’t want to come home to an infestation! Luckily the weather looks good, so Wilfred can amuse himself in the garden. He just loves being outdoors.

This is all for now. Have a good weekend, whoever you are, wherever you are. Don’t take time for granted. It’ll soon pass you by!

Camping with the littles

At the weekend, we took the boys camping … Rupert’s first ‘holiday’. My Mom and Dad own a trailer tent (half caravan, half tent) which they leave up over the summer months on a lovely quiet campsite which boasts a playground featuring an old tractor, a mini golf course and a treasure hunt … Perfect for keeping toddlers busy and making them tired enough to sleep at night!

We’ve booked a few weekends away this year and this was our first stay. Let’s call it a practice run. The car was packed to the roof, Rupert had the biggest poo explosion I’ve ever had to deal with and a massive daddy long legs flew at my face in the toilet block, leaving me running for safety and leaving my toddler to deal with it alone! Oops.

Having said that, it was a fantastic break. We were visited by my sister in law and her baby on the Saturday and my mother in law stayed a night with us. We had a BBQ. The rain stopped and the sun shone just in time to eat on a blanket outside. The dog that ran over only managed to eat two pieces of chocolate cake before we managed to restrain her 🙈. Wilfred absolutely loved spending the whole weekend outdoors. Rupert slept fantastically and managed not to wake the whole campsite.

All in all. Very successful. Looking forward to the next one.

Summer is here!

I’m so pleased to announce that summer has finally descended on Birmingham 😊👍🏻 … We have been outside most days enjoying the fresh air and line-dried washing (such a Mum thing to say 🙈).

This weekend, we had friends round all weekend and even managed to rope the blokes in to help build a sandpit for our boys (I say boys, but obviously, Rupert’s a bit young still. And I don’t think Wilfred would give him a look in, anyway! He is OBSESSED with it).

So, even though the car is fixed now (hallelujah) we’ve still been sat on our bums a lot. Benefits of having a big garden – plenty of maintenance to keep hubby busy after work 😉 and enough room for Wilfred to run and stretch his legs during the day 😊. That being said, all I’ve really done is sit and drink prosecco in the sun 🤔 I probably need to get moving soon otherwise I’ll be a right hefalump by the time December rolls around (and I’m a bridesmaid for my sister in law on the 22nd!! 🙄).

That’s all for now, lovelies. I seem to have missed a week blogging (was probably too busy sunbathing), it’s still a work in progress but I’m trying to write every Monday!! Trying!!
