Spending time at home

We rarely spend a weekend at home together … we’re very fortunate to have lots of family and friends who keep our diaries busy, but just sometimes, it’s nice to stop and just be. Together.

We spent (the majority of) Saturday, just us four. Tucked up in our cosy house, enjoying each other’s company. This was the week that Rupert learnt to crawl (Wilfred is so proud of his baby brother!), so inevitably there have been safety issues and baby proofing to tackle (it’s amazing how fast you revert to lighting candles, leaving stairgates open and removing plug socket covers; once your babies become pre-schoolers!).

I also persuaded Richard to tackle the back room, which has been the cause of many disagreements and been re-purposed numerous times since we moved in. Essentially, we have two items of furniture (a wonderful, heavy wooden table and a long old law-court bench) which we love, but are far too big for the room. The table has been put up and taken down no less than 10 times in the last 2 years.

Finally, I called it a day on both items and have had Rich remove them to the garage while I reconsider the space. For now, for Christmas at least, it will serve as a playroom / family room. There’s certainly more floorspace for our crawling babe and energetic boy to enjoy together.
